The Kit contents laid out
03 August 2009
Main Construction completed alongside the Fujimi Kit over the weekend.
The Fujimi kit does not provide the smoke pod, so I have pinched a pod from my other Airfix RA Hawk in the stash.

Painting started on the Pilots - one for each jet.

Not much filler was required, so it didn't take long before I masked up the canopy and windshield, and glued the windshield in place using Gator glue (a very strong PVA glue).
After the main coats of Humbrol Acrylic #174 were applied, I laid on about 3 coats of Klear, ready for the decals. On hindsight, I should really have taken more time and thought over applying the decals. As a result of rushing I ended up with some of the decals out of alignment, and the underneath was a nightmare. My advice for the underneath, is to leave off the parts 8B, 9B, 12B and 13B and to glue them on after the white arrow decals (#46 and #49) have been applied. Two decals that are not mentioned in the instructions are the #47 and #48. These should be used in the insides of the intakes (inner). Unfortunately I used them to try to recover my error on the underside.
Hopefully I should have this (and the Saudi Hawk) finished by next weekend.
Added remaining parts to Hawk and also added the 3 pipes over the jet exhaust, and some white decals on the canopy surround. The last thing I found missing on this build is the fact the mention to paint the Cream #103 on the centre, but there is no frame definition on the canopy making it hard to mask correctly.
Anyway she is finished, I made a few errors on the decal application, but I am very happy on how this came together.
