Hawker Siddley Trident 1C - Airfix [1/144]

BackHome

Started 03 November 2009 - Completed 29 November 2009.

Build went relatively easy, however the underside fuselage seam keeps splitting and making it tip at an extreme angle when on the stand. I would suggest strengthing the fuslage seams with strips of plasticard, and also a few grams of weight in the nose as even on the stand it has a tendency to tailsit.

I decided from the beginning that I was going the paint the markings on the tail, so after I sprayed the upper fuselage Humbrol #130 Satin White, I masked off before spraying Humbrol #19 Gloss Red. When dry I masked off again and sprayed Humbrol #15 Gloss Midnight Blue. After letting it cure for a few days I then masked up for spraying Humbrol #11 Silver. When dry I then sprayed Humbrol #40 Gloss Pale Grey (Acrylic), and set aside to cure for a day.

After all masking was removed I sprayed a few Klear coats and applied the few remaining decals. Final task was to paint the nose Matt Black.
