Proposed scheme - "Chico" Vietnam 1972 using Twobobs Decals #72-034

Chico on a Fast FAC patrol

Started 30/08/2004

Preparing the Cockpit and Burners for painting. Added PE to the ejection seats.

In the Eduard PE instructions you instructed to remove RIOs top part of the instrument panel and reconstruct, hence the black plastic. Also note the wedge of plastic in the rear of the cockpit, to raise the RIOs seat slightly.

PE Details added to the Burner nozzles. Without them the inside is void of detail.

Ive decided I really dont like PE - Shots of Seats and Cockpit tube nearly finished.

Started on the SEA Camo scheme. Im trying out using Blu-Tac as a masking medium for this one.

24/09/2004

Dark Green sprayed and Blu-Tac removed. As you can see, I had a little overspray. This was caused by not masking the areas not to be sprayed and not reducing the air pressure to the airbrush.

Painting (including the touch ups to the brown) done, all masks off (except the Canopy). Just need to apply some coats of Klear, to be ready for decals.

Finally, decals are all applied. I applied 3 list mist coats of Klear/ Future, and gave it 24 hours to cure. It then took about 2 days to apply all the superb TwoBobs decals. All setting solutions were wiped off with distilled water, after leaving overnight, and a further coating of future has been applied. This weekend will be spent weathering the plane.

I have taken some shots of my Gunfighter as its stands today. I have still to finish adding a few bits, like the inner MLG gear doors a few antennas and touch up the Nav lights. Then it on to adding some pilots/ground crew and various ground equipment, to hopefully show as it was prior to going on a mission back in 1972.

and a picture with the canopies the on right way round (they are not glued on yet)

About halfway through the Ground equipment, I just have to paint them and decal.
