Proposed Scheme - Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003

15 August 2006
I did a comparison with Daco's new F-14 book and the Kit cockpit, and whilst most of the kit parts look OK, there are some parts missing. So I have started to add a throttle quadrant, landing gear and brake levers in the front cockpit, and a LANTIRN control stick in the RIO's.
And now I have started on the fun part...not, the exhaust nozzles. Cutting strips for the insides of the nozzles, and I have already sacrificed some blood to the modellling gods.

One set of nozzles down, two more to go.
Results from last nights construction, and the items ready for fine tuning.

I am now at the stage where I need to start painting the cockpit before anymore assembly can continue. So I will switch to one of the other cats for now.

Main paint scheme on.

Decalling completed this morning. Twobobs decals went on very quickly, the only issue being the wing tip formation lights not wanting to wrap around. Took about 10 minutes to get them to lay down and managed to split one. Klear coat next then panel wash.
Completed. After sealing the decals, an oil wash of Winsor & Newton Raw Umber and White Spirits was applied and the excess wiped off. Giving it a day to cure I then gave it a Pollyscale Acrylic Flat coat and added all the landing gear, doors, pitots, weapons and canopy.
