Spray Booth Mk3

19 September 2009

After nearly two years of using solely Acrylics, I decided that a new spray booth was in order, so I could continue using Alclads and my enamels (boy do I miss them).

In the past I had an unused box room as my paint shop, where I could close the door after use and let the Mk2 booth extract the fumes at its leisure (approx 5 minutes to remove all hints of odour). Now however I will be using my current office space, so I need a more efficient method of fume extraction.

After watching Phil Flory in his vids, I decided the type of booth he uses would be ideal.

I started saving up and last week I finally had enough to be able to afford the GraphicAir A300S-D model from little-cars.

After contacting Paul at little-cars last Friday, I had the Booth in my hands by the Wednesday - .

I then set about trying re-arrange my office space to accomodate the booth. In the end I bought a folding Aluminium Picnic table, some plywood and a Tumble Dryer connector. Cutting a hole in the plywood, I attached one half of the tumble dryer connector, and tie-wrapped the the other to the booth hose.

Here is the result.

and ready for use...

Only thing that would make it perfect is more lighting, as the led light I installed on the hood is not bright enough.

Initial tests using Alclads have been great...I feel some building coming on.
